Story of

Pierre Levée

It is in the heart of the Retz region between Nantes (35km) and Pornic (18km) that the Domaine de Pierre Levée is located in the Princé forest.

This discreet but vast estate is a privileged vacation spot for staying with family, friends or work groups. It offers the possibility of enjoying both the activities of the coast and the Nantes region.

A bit of history

Land and woods constituting the Domaine de Pierre-Levée were acquired by the family by order of King Louis XV in 1774. Burned during the revolution, the residence was rebuilt in the 1810s in its existing architecture: slate roof, facades entirely or partially decorated with tuffeau stone from Touraine, parquet floors in Itauba wood from Brazil!

A shipowner, the owner brought back various unusual objects from his travels, including a boat bell and the rib of a whale killed during the crossing.

At the beginning of 1900, the house underwent transformations with an extension to the north wing which today houses the kitchen and dining room, the development of the east and west steps, the creation of a park with groves of oaks, cedars which still adorn the current garden.

Pierre-Levée, whose name comes from the menhir located on the property, has the particularity of having been transmitted mainly to female heiresses and the family name of the owners changed according to their marriages, the current owner being a descendant direct from the first buyers of the property.
